The Bardsragujn chumb 1997 was the sixth season of the highest Armenian league in men's football .

After two years of autumn-spring mode, the Armenian Football Association decided to hold the event again in the calendar year. The shortened season with ten teams began on August 3, 1997 and ended on November 16, 1997.

FC Yerevan beat Shirak Gyumri by two points and won their first championship title. This qualified them for the UEFA Champions League . Shirak Gyumri played in the UEFA Cup and Erebuni-Homenmen Yerevan in the Intertoto Cup . Defending champion Pyunik Yerevan had to be content with fourth place.

Lori Vanadzor had to relegate, who scored the only point this season with a 1-1 draw against fellow promoted Dwin Artaschat.
