The Red Bull Juniors were the second team of the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Red Bull Salzburg . The team was replaced in 2012 by FC Liefering .

history

The amateurs of what was then known as SV Austria Salzburg took the place of former second division club FC Salzburg in the Regionalliga West in 1996 . In their debut season in the third-highest division, Salzburg came in sixth. In the 1997/98 season they finished sixth again in the Regionalliga. They also took part in the ÖFB Cup for the first time in that season after defeating PSV Salzburg in the preliminary round . In the first round, however, they failed at the second division WSG Wattens . In the 1998/99 season they took third place in the western league, in the cup they were defeated by Bundesliga club LASK in the first round.

The Salzburg amateurs finished fourth in the 1999/2000 season. In that season they also reached the second round in the cup for the first time, after defeating SK Eintracht Wels in the first round , and moved into the second round without a fight after the second round opponent FCN St. Pölten went bankrupt. In the last sixteen it was finally against the second division VfB Admira Wacker Mödling the end of the line. In the 2000/01 season they were fourth in the league again, but in the cup they were defeated in the first round to the second division club SC Untersiebenbrunn . In the 2001/02 season the Austria Salzburg Amateurs finished sixth in the western league for the third time, and in the cup they failed again in round one, this time at the second division LASK. The 2002/03 season ended the same way as the previous one: in the league they finished sixth, in the cup they were eliminated in the first round against a second division team, this time against SV Mattersburg . In the 2003/04 season, the team finished fourth. After a year break they took part in the 2004/05 season again and reached the second round after victories against FC Zell am See in the first and second division against Untersiebenbrunn in the second round, in which, however, the Bundesliga club SK Rapid Vienna lost. In the league, the Salzburg amateurs were only one point behind the champions FC Kufstein runner-up and thus narrowly missed promotion to the second division .

For the 2005/06 season Austria Salzburg was taken over by Red Bull and renamed Red Bull Salzburg . The Austria Salzburg amateurs then became the Red Bull Juniors . In the 2005/06 season they qualified for the Cup after an 11-0 win against ASVÖ FC Puch , in which they failed in the first round against SK Sturm Graz II . In the western league they were runner-up for a second time in a row, but this time with a deficit of eleven points on the champions FC Lustenau 07 . The 2006/07 season was to be the most successful in the team's history: The Juniors were champions of the Regionalliga West with a 14 point lead over FC Hard and thus rose to the second division for the first time. In the cup, the team reached the main round again after beating the Salzburger AK in 1914 . In the first round they defeated Union St. Florian , in the second round SV Feldkirchen . In the second round they defeated the second division LASK, in the quarter-finals the fourth-class SV Horn . In the semifinals they finally lost in penalty shoot-out against Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien .

In their debut season in professional football, the Red Bull Juniors finished sixth in the table. In the 2008/09 season they finished seventh, in the cup they reached the second round after a win against FC Hallein 04 , in which they ended up against the regional league club SV Würmla . In the 2009/10 season they finished sixth in the second division. After the 2009/10 season, however, the ÖFB banned the second team of Bundesliga clubs in professional football, whereupon the Red Bull Juniors and FK Austria Wien II had to be relegated to the regional league. In the ÖFB-Cup they reached the second round in 2009/10.

Back in amateur football, the Red Bull Juniors were champions of the western league in the 2010/11 season with nine points ahead of WSG Wattens, but were logically unable to take part in the promotion relegation. In that season, as a regional league team, you only had to qualify for the cup in the preliminary round, which was achieved with a win against SV Hallwang . In the first round, however, they had to admit defeat to league rivals FC Höchst . In the 2011/12 season you reached fourth place as the defending champion in the Regionalliga West. In the Cup you were set as the Landes-Cup winner for the main round and met in the first round on SC Brunn am Gebirge , which you clearly defeated. In the second round they emerged victorious against Bundesliga club Mattersburg, and in the round of 16 they faced second division club FC Blau-Weiß Linz , which they also sent home with a defeat. In the quarter-finals you met your own professionals, but they didn't give the amateurs a chance.

After the 2011/12 season, Red Bull Salzburg bought the regional division USK Anif and made it the Salzburg farm team . Liefering was able to advance to professional football as an independent club, which the Red Bull Juniors could not do. The amateur team that had become useless was formally entered into a syndicate with the re-establishment of USK Anif, FC Anif , so that Anif could remain in the regional league.
