The Songkhla United Football Club ( Thai : สโมสร ฟุตบอล สงขลา ยูไนเต็ด ) is a Thai football club from Songkhla , Thailand . The club is currently suspended and played in the second highest league in the country, the Thai League 2 , until 2017 .
The club was founded in 2009 as Buriram Football Club. In 2012 the location was moved to Songkhla and the club was renamed Wuachon United Football Club. In 2013 the club merged with Songkhla Football Club, which is also based in Songkhla, and what is now Songkhla United Football Club was created. The first two years the club played in the third division, the Regional League Division 2 in the North / East region. After becoming runner-up in 2010, they rose to the second division, the Thai Premier League Division 1 . In the first year they became champions of the league and rose to the highest league in the country, the Thai Premier League . The club played here for three years and relegated back to the second division at the end of the 2014 season. In 2017 they finished 16th and were relegated to the Thai League 3 . Since the license documents for the 2018 season were not completely submitted to the association, the club was excluded from playing for 2 years. After the suspension has ended, the club can resume playing in the Thai League 4, Southern Region in 2020.
Stadion
Until 2017, the home games were played at the Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla . The stadium has a capacity of 25,000 people. The owner and operator is the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
