FIDE Grand Prix 2012–2013

The FIDE Grand Prix 2012–2013 was a series of chess tournaments with the participation of the world's best that took place from September 2012 to October 2013. The first two winners, Wesselin Topalow and Şəhriyar Məmmədyarov , qualified for the candidates' tournament for the 2014 World Chess Championship .

mode

The Grand Prix consisted of six tournaments with 12 players each. Eighteen top players from the world took part regularly, each of them playing in four tournaments. Due to various cancellations, a total of five other players competed. The winner of each tournament received 170 points, the second 140 and the third 110. For 4th to 12th place there were 90, 80, ... to 10 points. Only the board points counted for the placement in each tournament; there was no fine evaluation . When players shared a placement, the total points were split. The three best tournaments were rated for each player; the fourth was a coating result , which has been used only in the case of equal to the rank determination.
