The 2005 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the first edition of the World Cup tournament for men in beach soccer organized by FIFA . The tournament took place from May 8th to 15th, 2005 in the Copacabana district of Rio de Janeiro . All 20 games were played in one stadium.
France , coached by Éric Cantona , was world champion ahead of Portugal , while the hosts Brazil took 3rd place.
