The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2009 is the fifth edition of the World Cup tournament for men in beach soccer organized by FIFA . For the second time after 2008 ( France ) it was not held in Brazil but in the United Arab Emirates . All 32 games took place in Dubai from November 16-22 .

In the group stage there were four groups with four teams each, each playing against each other, with three points being awarded for a win, two points for a win after overtime or a penalty shootout and no points for a loss. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided. After the group phase, the tournament was continued in the knockout system.
