The Beach Soccer World Championship 2001 was the seventh edition of the World Championship tournament for men in beach soccer . The tournament took place from February 11th to 18th, 2001 in Costa do Sauípe , Bahia , Brazil . For the first time, the tournament was not held in Rio de Janeiro . All 20 games were played in one stadium.
To date, Portugal was only the second nation (besides Brazil) to win a World Cup.
