The KK FMP ( Serbian - Cyrillic КК ФМП ), usually as FMP or FMP Železnik known is a Serbian basketball club from Belgrade. The club, originally under this name, which won the ABA league twice and the national cup competition four times, merged with KK Red Star Belgrade in 2011 . This merger did not go smoothly afterwards and KK Radnički, which moved from Novi Sad to Belgrade in 2009, took over the name FMP. Finally, the previous KK Radnički FMP settled at the former home venue Železnik Hall and took over the old emblem of FMP Železnik. The club currently plays in the first Serbian basketball league .

history

FMP Železnik (1975 to 2011)

The basketball club ILR Železnik was founded on March 26, 1975 on the initiative of the Belgrade District Administration Železnik and the Ivo Lola Ribar machine factory . The club was founded as the Ivo Lola Ribar sports community and had 700 members. These were divided into eight sports : soccer , basketball , chess , handball , volleyball , bowling , boxing and sport shooting . Since the team developed rapidly and found good support from the spectators, all youth clubs and a women's team were set up by 1977. Until 1986 the club increased continuously until it was promoted to the 1st Serbian League. This represented the highest regional league and was only surpassed in the country by the 1st Yugoslav League. For economic reasons, however, the team had to withdraw from the competition in 1986 and the club was closed.

It was not until 1991 that the association became active again thanks to the Belgrade company AD FMP . For this reason, the club name was also renamed FMP . The other club history began in the second league in alone now from what is now Serbia and Montenegro existing Yugoslavia . With the championship victory in 1995 in the second division, promotion to the 1st Yugoslav League was achieved, the club's greatest success to date. In 1997 the success story continued and for the first time in the club's history they won the Yugoslav Cup.

It took until 2003 to achieve a new success. The team won the national cup again. In the final of the ABA League 2004, a national league in Southeast Europe , they defeated Cibona Zagreb in Zagreb and won this title for the first time. This is also the biggest club title so far. A year later they secured the trophy for the third time. In 2006, the team won the ABA league title for the second time in the final against city rivals Partizan . Also in 2007 the fourth cup triumph was achieved and to top it off they played in the semi-finals of the ULEB Cup . In 2011 there was a merger with the basketball department of Roter Stern .
