The FC 07 Albstadt is a football club from the Baden-Württemberg city Albstadt .

history

The predecessor club FC Ebingen was founded on September 27th, 1907 in the next room of the Gasthaus Sternen in Ebingen . The club was later renamed to VfB Ebingen (temporarily with an athletics department) and finally in 1923 to FV 07 Ebingen .

Following the decision of the general assembly (Zollern-Alb-Halle), which initially met separately, the two traditional clubs FC 1910 Tailfingen and FV 07 Ebingen (both clubs were among the leading teams in the region for decades) were merged to form FC 07 Albstadt with effect from July 1, 1998 .

The FC 1910 Tailfingen played a total of five years in the football league Baden-Württemberg , at the time the third highest league in Germany. The FV 07 Ebingen also performed well for a long time. 1949/50 the club played one season in the Oberliga Südwest / Süd. Ebingen later played for many years in the Black Forest-Bodensee League, as the 1st Amateur League, the predecessor of the Oberliga, was called between 1961 and 1978. In 1964 and 1965 the FV 07 Ebingen was champions of the league, but the amateurs of VfB Stuttgart prevailed as Württemberg champions. The eternal table of the legendary Black Forest-Bodensee-Liga is led by FC 1910 Tailfingen directly in front of the local rivals from Ebingen at the time.

The two clubs attracted attention nationwide with DFB Cup matches . FC 1910 Tailfingen competed against Rot-Weiss Essen , SC Freiburg or VfL Bochum . In 1985, FV 07 Ebingen won the WFV Cup when FC Wangen 05 were beaten 4: 3. In the first round of the DFB Cup, however, the club clearly failed 7-2 against 1. FC Nürnberg . Probably the greatest sporting success of a youth football team in the Zollernalb district was achieved by the B-youth of FC Tailfingen in 1980 by winning the Württemberg championship against the Stuttgart kickers around Jürgen Klinsmann . The final was won 1-0 by a goal from Axel Thoma and qualified for the German championship round. The green-whites were defeated in the round of 16 to the later German champions Eintracht Frankfurt. The players of this youth team, which was coached by Günter Jetter, included the two later Bundesliga professionals Egon Flad and Axel Thoma .

The FC 07 Albstadt played after the merger in the Association League Württemberg , but had to relegate to the state league in 2001. There the club reached midfield positions, got - started as a promotion aspirant - in the danger of relegation during the 2006/07 season, but saved itself in the relegation game against the district league runner-up TSG Ehingen / Danube on a neutral place in Burladingen with a 3-2 afterwards.

On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of FC 07 Albstadt, the German record champions FC Bayern Munich made a guest appearance on July 15, 2007 in front of 10,000 spectators for a friendly match in the Albstadion . Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld's team clearly won 13: 0 against the then national division.

On July 8th, 2009 VfB Stuttgart made a guest appearance at FC 07 Albstadt. The Stuttgart won in front of around 5,000 spectators with 5: 0 (1: 0).

After FC 07 had already reached promotion relegation in the 2009/10 season, but failed at VfL Sindelfingen, the club was able to return to the association league in the third game of the 2010/11 relegation with a 3-0 win against TV Echterdingen to celebrate. At the end of the 2018/19 season, after eight years of the association's league, they were relegated to the state league again.
