Fabián Marcaccio (born December 30, 1963 in Rosario , Argentina ) is an Argentine painter and artist .

Life

Fabián Marcaccio was born in Rosario, Santa Fe Province in 1963 . He first studied philosophy at the University of Rosario .

Marcaccio has been an artist since 1993 and has since had many solo and group exhibitions, including his first solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art (North Miami) , Tate Liverpool , Art Basel and the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney . His works are u. a. represented in the collections of Daros Exhibitions Zurich, the Proje4L / Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art Istanbul and the Goetz Collection Munich.

The artist, who lives in New York, addresses in his work a. a. the ambivalence of the image medium as a work of art and advertising medium. In Germany he was best known for his solo exhibition at the Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart (2000) and the Kunstverein Köln (2001). At documenta 11 in 2002, his work Multiple / Site Paintants was exhibited in the city of Kassel . In his "Paintants", a word created from 'painting' and 'mutant', painting, sculpture and object art merge.

On September 10, 2011, Fabián Marcaccio received the Bernhard Heiliger Prize for Sculpture 2011 from the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit .
