Fabio Fabene
Fabio Fabene (born March 12, 1959 in Rome ) is a Roman Catholic bishop and canon lawyer .
Life
After studying theology and philosophy, Fabio Fabene was ordained priest on May 26, 1984 . In 1992 he was at the Pontifical Lateran University to Dr. iur. can. PhD . He was Chancellor of the Diocese of Viterbo and Professor of Canon Law at the Philosophical-Theological College Istituto Teologico San Pietro in Viterbo, an offshoot of the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo .
On December 7, 2001, he was appointed papal chaplain ( monsignor ) by Pope John Paul II . Fabene was judge at the marriage court of the ecclesiastical region of Lazio of the Vicariate of Rome . In 2011 he was appointed Office Director of the Congregation for Bishops ; he was also deputy bureau chief of the secretariat of the college of cardinals .
On February 8, 2014, he was appointed Undersecretary of the Synod of Bishops by Pope Francis . On April 8 of the same year, Pope Francis raised him to the rank of bishop and appointed him titular bishop of Aquipendium . The Pope himself donated his episcopal ordination on May 30th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Cardinal Emeritus Prefect of the Congregation for the Bishops, Giovanni Battista Re , and the General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri .
On February 28, 2017, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Mons Faliscus by Francis .
