Fakfak (also Fak-Fak ) is an Indonesian administrative district ( Kabupaten ) in the south of the province of West Papua (Papua Barat) on the island of New Guinea . Its capital is Fakfak .
geography
The administrative district covers the west of the Bomberai Peninsula and thus only the western part of the Fak-Fak department during the Dutch colonial period . To the north is the Bay of Bintuni , to the west the Seram Sea and to the east the administrative districts of Teluk Bintuni and Kaimana .
In the northwest is the Fakfak peninsula with the main town on the south coast and the island of Panjang in front of it . The Fakfak peninsula is formed by the Fakfak mountains . To the south lies the Sebakorbucht , whose entrance is protected by the island of Karas . Other offshore islands belonging to the administrative district are Ogar , Arguni and Samai .
The administrative district of Fakfak is divided into nine districts ( Indonesian district ), seven Kelurahans and 118 Kampungs .
