Falling Up is an American Christian rock band . The name comes from the first song that Ribordy and Cox wrote together. They describe their style of music as "pash rock", a combination of rock , rap , R&B and metal .

Band history

Jessy Ribordy and Tom Cox wrote their first song when they were new in high school. They met up with friends to play games together for fun. By their friends from the band Kutless , which also consists of Albany in the state of Oregon comes, got her demo tape to the Tooth & Nail owner who Brandon Ebel.

In summer 2003 the record deal was signed with BEC-Recordings, a Tooth & Nail sub-label. On February 24, 2004, the first album was released, which was called Crashings . Recorded by Aaron Sprinkle, Crashings sold 3,396 times in the first week, which was a new record for BEC. By the end of 2004, over 50,000 items were sold. The singles "Broken Heart", "Escalates" and "Bittersweet" reached number 1 in the Christian Rock Charts by R&R.

The second album Dawn Escapes was released on October 25, 2005. The album was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette . Tom Cox left the band shortly after the album was released.

Exit Lights was released on September 12, 2006 . The remix album contained remixes of well-known songs and the new song Islander. Tedd T ( Mute Math ), Jamie Moore, TobyMac , Randy Torres ( Project 86 ), Joseph A. Kisselburgh (ex Falling Up), Trevor McNevan ( Thousand Foot Krutch ) and Solomon Olds ( Family Force 5 ) worked with Falling Up. on the album. Joeseph Kisselburgh left the band in late 2006 and dedicated himself to his solo project The Send . On December 2nd, 2006 the band could be seen live in Germany for the first time. The concert took place as part of the Christmas Rock Night .

During 2007, Micah and Adam left the band. October 2nd was the release date for the next album: Captiva. It was produced again by Aaron Sprinkle, who was already responsible for crashings.

On January 20, 2010, Jessy Ribordy announced that the band would take a "permanent break".

From October 22nd it was announced via MySpace and Twitter that a new album was planned. Another tour was excluded. While all previous albums were released by BEC Records , a subsidiary of Tooth & Nail Records , the new album was produced independently using the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com . On June 28, 2011, the album was released under the title Your Sparkling Death Cometh and received mostly good reviews.

On April 11, 2012, Falling Up released a remix album under the title Mnemos .
