Falls City is a city in the US state of Nebraska . It is the administrative seat of Richardson County .

The city was founded in the summer of 1857 by James Lane, John A. Burbank , JE Burbank and Issac L. Hamby in what was then the Nebraska Territory . Because the Big Nemaha River formed a waterfall near the city , they named the city Falls City . The waterfall can no longer be seen today.
