Beverly Hills Family Robinson (Original title: Beverly Hills Family Robinson ) is an American comedy film of Troy Miller from the year 1998 . The plot is based on the novel The Swiss Robinson by Johann David Wyss .

Marsha Robinson stars in a television cooking show. She and her family are on a boat vacation near Hawaii . The boat is hijacked by pirates one night. The Robinsons outsmart the pirates they leave behind in a lifeboat.
The Robinsons' yacht gets caught in a storm and the family is shipwrecked. She runs aground on an island where the shipwrecked Digger already lives. The family befriends him and he helps them build a house. Jane Robinson then falls in love with the man.
The pirates end up stranded on the same island and discover the Robinsons. They chase after the Robinsons. They defend themselves with self-made weapons. One day a helicopter flies over the island in search of the Robinsons. The plane lands. The pirates are arrested and Jane says goodbye to Digger, who wants to stay on the deserted island. The Robinsons finally fly home again.
