Familienbande (Original Title: You're Ugly Too ) is a 2015 Irish film by Mark Noonan, in which an orphaned girl and her jailed uncle try to start a life together, wavering between drama and comedy .

action

After her mother's death, eleven-year-old Stacey is placed in a foster family. Will is released on parole with the condition that his niece be looked after. They both move into an inherited trailer in the Irish Midlands. The starting conditions are difficult. While Stacey is not accepted into the local school because of narcolepsy , Will cannot find a job. The married neighbor Emilie, who comes from Belgium, offers her help as a private teacher. Her husband, Tibor, who works as a garbage collector , offers Will to help. Nevertheless, Will finds no support, becomes dependent on medication and does not know how to behave in the affection shown by both sides for Emilie. Relationship with his niece proves difficult, but gets better over time. The secret already kept by Stacey's mother about the reason for the prison sentence finally expands into a conflict case: According to his testimony, Will caused the death of Stacey's father to protect his sister. Shortly after Stacey learns this story, the family court review takes place. This denies the possibility that Will can properly take care of his niece. He must therefore begin the remaining seven months of his sentence, while Stacey is placed in a foster family. After their release from prison, the uncle and niece meet again. Stacey decides to stay with the foster family.
