Fanny Morweiser (born March 11, 1940 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , † August 18, 2014 in Mosbach ) was a German writer .

Fanny morweiser visited in Ludwigshafen, the then "old and modern language school at Bismarckstraße" and then studied at the Free Art Academy Mannheim main subjects drawing , painting and sculpture to with the aim books illustrate . When she sent some drawings to Diogenes Verlag , to which she attached the text of the book that was still to be written, the publisher did not receive them, but they liked the text. In 1971, he became her first novel Lalu lalula, poor little Ophelia , which was published in the fall of 1971. The book attracted a lot of attention in the German-language press and even Der Spiegel introduced the author to its readers in a larger article. In the course of the following decades, Fanny Morweiser wrote other novels and short stories. Her complete works comprise thirteen volumes.

In addition to her literary work, Fanny Morweiser worked as a visual artist in Mosbach. Morweiser's husband Christian Morweiser was a judge at the Mosbach Regional Court. Fanny Morweiser died in August 2014 after a serious illness.

Appreciation and awards

The author also received recognition outside of the German-speaking area. Her first two novels were translated into Polish in the mid-1970s. Some of her short stories from the anthology "The Taxi Dancer" appeared in various American and Canadian literary yearbooks in the late 1990s. In 2002 Fanny Morweiser was given the post of "Deidesheim Tower Clerk" for two years by the "Foundation for the Promotion of Literature in the Palatinate" .
