Fantu Worku Taye (born March 29, 1999 ) is an Ethiopian middle and long distance runner .
Athletic career
Fantu Worku gained her first international experience at the 2016 African Championships in Durban , where she finished fourth in the 1,500 meter run in 4: 05.84 minutes . Then she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Adanech Anbesa at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz in 4: 08.43 min . The following year she won the silver medal in 4: 30.76 minutes at the Junior African Championships in Tlemcen and also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the first round with 4: 05.81 minutes . In 2018 she took part in the 3000 meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where she finished sixth in 8: 50.54 minutes. At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus , she won in 25:49 minutes with the mixed relay. Over 5000 meters she took part in the World Championships in Doha in October , where she finished sixth in the final with 14: 40.47 minutes .
In 2017 Worku became the Ethiopian champion in the 1,500 meter run and in 2019 over 5,000 meters.
