Fatoumata Tambajang

Aja Fatoumata CM Jallow-Tambajang (born October 22, 1949 in Brikama ) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

On August 5, 1994, Tambajang was appointed Secretary of State for Health, Social Welfare and Women's Affairs by the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) ; she stayed briefly in office and was replaced in February 1995 by Coumba Ceesay-Marenah .

In the District President Adama Barrows was on 23 January 2017 as Vice-President and Minister for Affairs of Women ( English Minister of Women's Affairs appointed). There was criticism of her nomination because she was older than 65 at the time of appointment, which, according to the constitution, is the maximum age for this office.

In a major cabinet reshuffle on June 29, 2018, she left the cabinet, her future role should be in the foreign service. She was to succeed Mamadou Tangara in the post of Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the United Nations in New York. Her successor as Vice President and Minister for Women will be the previous Foreign Minister, Ousainou Darboe .
