history

The origins of motorsport in San Marino go back to the early 1930s. The first professional San Marinese rider was Marino Bombini, who competed in the prestigious 24-hour motorcycle race for the Bol d'Or in 1938 . Nine years later, in the immediate post-war period, the first motorcycle hill climb Giro dei Castelli was held in San Marino. In 1961, the first motorsport association was founded, which was responsible for cars and motorcycles. In 1965 the four-wheel division Federazione Auto Motoristica Sammarinese was spun off and the official association for two-wheel motorsport FSM was founded. FSM is a member of the National Olympic Committee of San Marino .

In 1968 the FSM built the Crossodromo Pine Serra with the only official FIM-approved motorsport racetrack in the Republic of San Marino.
