Felix Funk

Felix Funk (born March 30, 1905 in Wilsdruff near Dresden, † March 20, 1976 in Dresden ) was a German painter and draftsman .

Life

After elementary school, Felix Funk completed an apprenticeship at the drawing school of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory . From 1926 to 1933 he studied drawing and painting at the Dresden Art Academy, and from 1930 as a master student under Georg Lührig . A scholarship from the city of Dresden enabled him to study trips to Sweden , Norway , North Africa and Italy .

His artistic focus was initially portraits and landscapes in pastel and oil. After suffering from severe tuberculosis, he switched to watercolor painting and drawings from the 1950s onwards. He created numerous watercolors with flower motifs and village views, which were published as calendars or postcards in the GDR .

Felix Funk's pictures are now in u. a. in the Dresden picture gallery and in the local history museum of the city of Wilsdruff . In 2005 the Wilsdruffer Heimatmuseum dedicated a special exhibition to his life's work on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
