Federico von Rieger

Federico von Rieger , actually Friedrich , also Fritz , (born January 6, 1903 in Ingolstadt , Bavaria, † October 25, 1987 in Aschaffenburg ) was a German painter .

Life

His family moved to Würzburg in 1907 . His artistic talent showed up early on. From 1928 to 1933 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and was a student of Julius Diez and a master student of Max Doerner . From 1936 he lived in Seveso and other places in Italy , where his artistic work received great recognition, which was also expressed in numerous honors and awards. He became friends with the Italian writer and poet Giuseppe Boglione . In 1961 he became a member of the Accademia Tiberiana in Rome. In 1987 he died in a clinic in Aschaffenburg.

His works are assigned to a direction of realism. The most important portraits include that of Pope Pius XI. , that of the Archbishop of Berlin Konrad Graf von Preysing and that of King Hussein of Jordan . His students include Gabriele Mandel , Giorgio Salmoiraghi, Alberto Borroni, and Aldo Fogli.
