Felix Hoffmann (local history researcher)

Felix Hoffmann (* 1896 ; † December 3, 1968 in Bad Liebenwerda ) was a German homeland researcher .

Life

After attending middle school and grammar school, Hoffmann, who grew up in Silesia , first began studying theology and history, which he soon had to abandon due to the early death of his father. In the following years he initially worked as a private and auxiliary teacher. As a result of the Second World War , Hoffmann first relocated to Torgau in Saxony , before moving to the village of Haida an der Schwarzen Elster , which is now part of the Röderland community . Here he worked for a short time in the local gravel works. From 1947 he finally worked in the superintendent of Elsterwerda .

Even in his home country of Silesia he was concerned with regional history and church history and some of his publications are still in the holdings of the German National Library to this day . After his resettlement, Hoffmann finally wrote numerous articles that dealt with the local history of the Bad Liebenwerda district and appeared in the Liebenwerda local calendar, the daily press and in the magazine Glaube und Gewissen . He was also a community representative in Haida and an employee of the Kulturbund der DDR . In December 1968 he died after a short, serious illness at the age of 72 in Bad Liebenwerda.
