Felix Mildenberger

Felix Mildenberger (* 1990 in Wolfach ) is a German conductor . Since winning the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition in 2018, he has been Assistant Conductor at the London Symphony Orchestra . In addition, he is chief conductor and artistic director of the Crescendo Freiburg symphony orchestra, which he co-founded.

Career

Felix Mildenberger discovered his enthusiasm for conducting at the age of 17. Although the son of a primary school teacher and a high school teacher had piano, violin and viola lessons at a young age, he only came into contact with a large symphonic repertoire during a Franco-German orchestral hiatus, where he was given a baton for the first time .

After graduating from high school (1.0) and a voluntary social year in Canada, he began studying orchestral conducting at the University of Music Freiburg and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 2011 to 2015 , where he worked with Lutz Köhler , Scott Sandmeier, Massimiliano Matesic, Mark Stringer and Gerhard Markson studied. In master classes he also learned a. a. with David Zinman , Paavo Järvi , Neeme Järvi , Markus Stenz and Bernard Haitink . Since then, he has repeatedly been available to the latter as cover conductor .

He also assisted Sir Simon Rattle , François-Xavier Roth , Robin Ticciati , Gianandrea Noseda , Fabio Luisi and others

In 2014, Felix Mildenberger and fellow students founded the Crescendo Freiburg symphony orchestra, of which he is chief conductor and artistic director to this day.

Felix Mildenberger has been a scholarship holder of the Conductors Forum of the German Music Council since 2017 .

From 2017 to 2019 Felix was Mildenberger chief assistant of Emmanuel Kirivine the Orchester National de France . For this post he gave up his position as a lecturer for orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg , which he held for two years.

In the 2019/20 season, Paavo Järvi brought him to the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich as his Assistant Conductor .

Felix Mildenberger lives in Hamburg and speaks fluent German, English and French.

In the 2020/21 season he will make his debut with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen , the SWR Symphony Orchestra , the Stuttgart Philharmonic , Orchester de l'Opéra de Lorraine, Aarhus Symfoniorkester, Musikkollegium Winterthur , Real Filharmonía de Galicia.
