Felizian Bessmer

Felizian Bessmer (born April 3, 1884 in Unterägeri ; † March 11, 1964 in Schwyz , entitled to live in Oberägeri) was a Swiss Catholic theologian and editor .

Life

Felizian Bessmer was born on April 3, 1884 in Unterägeri as the son of the farmer Johann Bessmer and Franziska née Kälin. Bessmer, who first graduated from the secondary school in Einsiedeln , joined the Capuchin Order in Lucerne in 1905 , after which he studied philosophy and theology at the order's own schools. In 1910 he celebrated his ordination . From 1914 to 1927 he was responsible for the next generation of the order as theology lecturer. In addition, he worked from 1918 to 1933 as editor of the yearbook "Schweizer Franziskus-Kalender" , which he co-founded .

In 1921 he was the founder of the third order headquarters in Schwyz. Furthermore, Felizian Bessmer acted from 1926 to 1939 as editor of the monthly magazine of the German- Swiss third order "St. Franziskus-Rosen". In 1927 he was appointed commissioner of the Third Order. He also worked as a builder of charitable houses such as the Acherhof retirement home in Schwyz in 1931 and the St. Karl near Illgau holiday home in 1938.

Felizian Bessmer, who is considered to be the renewer of the Franciscan Third Order in Switzerland, died on March 11, 1964 a few days before he was 80 years old in Schwyz.
