District rabbinate Adelsdorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district rabbinate of Adelsdorf was established according to the regulations of the Bavarian Jewish edict of 1813 in Adelsdorf , a community in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in northern Bavaria . Before that there had been a rabbinate in Adelsdorf since the end of the 17th century .

The district rabbinate was supervised by the district rabbinate Burgebrach from 1829 and in 1907 it was incorporated into the district rabbinate Bamberg .

tasks

The duties included advising on school matters, managing foundations and distributing alms . To finance the district rabbinates, levies were paid by the individual Jewish communities.

District rabbinate congregations

Since the Adelsdorf rabbinate was also supervised by the Burgebrach rabbinate from 1829, confusion arises in the literature about the affiliation of the communities to the district rabbinates:

District rabbi

1816 to 1846 Abraham Stein (* approx. 1769; died June 28, 1846 in Adelsdorf): He was the son of Löb Stein, teacher at the Jewish preparatory school in Burgpreppach . Abraham Stein was married to Gelche (1768–1843), from this marriage came their son Leopold Stein , reform rabbi in Frankfurt am Main.
