The Royal Society of Edinburgh is Scotland's national academy of science . The number of its members is limited to 1,400. Analogous to membership, the official title FRSE (Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh) is awarded. Moreover, subsidies are 500,000 in annual pounds awarded.

history

The Royal Society of Edinburgh was founded in 1783. In 1785 the first volume of the Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh appeared , in which u. a. James Hutton's Theory of the Earth was published. In 1832 the publication of the Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh began.

Prices

The institution awards various prizes, for example the Keith Medal , since 2000 the Royal Medal in various categories, the Wolfson James Clerk Maxwell Award for Electronics (since 2006), the WS Bruce Medal and the Neill Medal.
