Ferdinand Hauptmann (born June 20, 1913 in Resicabánya , German  Reschitza , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary ; † August 14, 1989 in Timișoara , Socialist Republic of Romania ) was Ordinarius Substitutus of the Timișoara diocese .

Life

Ferdinand Hauptmann attended the Realgymnasium in Timișoara from 1923 to 1931 , then (1931-1936) he completed the study of theology there . On March 29, 1936 he was in Resita for priests ordained. Between the years 1936–1938 he worked as a chaplain in Großsanktnikolaus , 1938–1944 as a catechist in the city center parish church in Timișoara. In 1944 he moved to Arad , but came back to the inner city parish church in Timișoara.

In 1950, when Bishop Augustin Pacha went on vacation to Carașova , he took the young chaplain Ferdinand Hauptmann from the Timișoara parish church with him. During this time he lived in the rectory of Carașova. Bishop Pacha made the secret appointment of a Ordinarius Substitutus in case he should be prevented from exercising his office. There was a Rome decree that every bishop had to appoint two clergymen who, in the event of his official impediment, should immediately take over the management of his diocese and exercise this until Rome decreed otherwise. Pacha determined Konrad Kernweisz , the spiritual of the poor school sisters , in the first place and Ferdinand Hauptmann, the pastor of the parish church of Timișoara, in the second place.

After Joseph Pless was arrested in 1952, Ferdinand Hauptmann headed the parish. In 1972 he was granted the title of Monsignor . Two years after his predecessor Konrad Kernweisz died, Ferdinand Hauptmann took up the post of Ordinarius Substitutus of the Timișoara diocese . In 1983 he retired for reasons of age. Sebastian Kräuter took over his position .
