Ferdinand Kirschner
Ferdinand Kirschner (born May 18, 1821 in Vienna ; † March 3, 1896 there ) was an Austrian architect .
Ferdinand Kirschner was a civil servant from 1850 and court architect from 1858. From 1865 to 1868 he worked on restoration work on the Hradschin in Prague before he was appointed castle captain in Vienna in 1870. In the imperial city, Ferdinand Kirschner mainly worked on adaptations and plans in the area of the Hofburg , such as the decoration of the redouten halls (which was partially burned in 1992) and made coffin designs for the Capuchin crypt , such as the coffin of Crown Prince Rudolf . His main work is the expansion of the Michaeler tract of the Hofburg between 1889 and 1893 according to the 160 year old plans by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach , which he only slightly changed.
