Ferdinand Schlemmer

Ferdinand Schlemmer (born January 20, 1898 in Munich ; † March 13, 1973 in Munich) was a German pharmacist , chemist and SS-Sturmbannführer since February 21, 1937 .

Life

Schlemmer received his doctorate in 1930 from the University of Munich . He was appointed associate professor there in 1934 and was full professor and director of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the Reich University of Strasbourg from 1941 to 1945 . He conducted research to improve the performance of pilots using drugs. He was a member of the SS with the number 78.871 and the NSDAP with the number 4.821.137. After the war, Schlemmer was interned in Kornwestheim , Württemberg, for two and a half years . When Schlemmer was elected to the board of the Federal Association of German Pharmacists ' Associations in November 1950 , he was already managing director of the Bavarian State Chamber of Pharmacists and the Bavarian Pharmacists' Association in Munich. In 1953 he became head of the German Drug Testing Institute (DAPI) and was a lecturer in Munich.

In his honor, the German Pharmaceutical Society awarded the Ferdinand Schlemmer Medal from 1975 to 2011 .
