Ferdinand Siebigk

Ferdinand Siebigk (born February 8, 1823 in Dessau , † May 8, 1886 in Zerbst ) was an administrative officer in the ducal Anhalt.

Life

Siebigk's mother died shortly after his birth and when his father, District Judge Friedrich Siebigk, died in 1837, General August Ludwig Stockmarr became his mentor. Encouraged by this, Siebigk joined the Dessau federal contingent in 1841 and was promoted to lieutenant in the following year. As such, he came to the Prussian War Academy in Berlin and studied there until the spring of 1848. In these politically troubled times , all officers were sent back to their garrisons on March 18, 1848 to be prepared for any escalation.

At the end of 1848 Siebigk was promoted to lieutenant and as such took part in the campaign in Schleswig . In 1851 Siebigk switched to civilian life and four years later became a reservist for captain a. D. promoted.

In the course of the following years Siebigk's career took him through various financial administrations. He could of financial advice through to the head of Rendantur the ducal Familienfideikommisskasse high serve. At the same time, he managed the Dessau Family Archives in the rank of archivist . Until his death he was also the head of the estate of Prince Friedrich August von Anhalt-Dessau . In 1871, after the death of his employer, Duke Leopold IV. Friedrich , Siebigk brought together all the widely scattered archives in Zerbst Castle and placed them under their own administration. He was supported in this project by Minister Alfred von Larisch .

Ferdinand Siebigk died at the age of 63 on May 8, 1886 in Zerbst and found his final resting place in his hometown Dessau.

In 1870 he married Franziska von Pape (1838–1904), the daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Pape .
