Ferdinand Westhoff
Joseph Ferdinand Westhoff (born November 20, 1812 in Nottuln , † May 18, 1870 in Münster ; also known under the pseudonym G. Ungt ) was a German writer .
Westhoff attended from 1824 to 1830, the School Paulinum in Münster and then studied after one semester at the local Academy had heard lectures in philosophy, in Bonn , Berlin and Greifswald jurisprudence . In 1837 he joined the Higher Regional Court of Münster as an auscultator , but left his legal career as a trainee lawyer because of an incurable nervous condition, which is why he shot himself on May 18, 1870, devoted himself to studying philosophy and lived as a private scholar in Münster.
In 1861, under the pseudonym G. Ungt (= unnamed?), He published two prose stories in Munsterisches Platt , Ollmatms Jans in de Friümde and Ollmanms Jans up de Reise , which were reprinted in 1863. In 1865 , as the fruit of his philosophical studies, material, strength and thought appeared. A comprehensive explanation of the life of the soul and the body with regard to immortality , in which writing he takes to the field against popular materialism and its representatives.
