Ferdinand Wilhelm Brune
Ferdinand Wilhelm Brune (* 18th July 1803 in Halle (Westphalia). ; † 28. July 1857 in Detmold ) was an architect of the late Classicism .
Life
In the years 1820 and 1821 as well as 1824-1827 Brune completed a course of studies at the Berlin Building Academy . In between he worked for the government in Minden as a construction assistant and from 1823 was employed in the same position at the Princely Chamber in Detmold. After completing his exam, he became a construction manager in Detmold under the senior building officer of Natorp . In 1829 Ferdinand Brune married Ernestine Henriette Reuter (1804–1857). Finally, in 1830, he received the office of master builder in the Principality of Lippe and remained a building officer from 1847 until his death.
During his work as a state master builder, Ferdinand Brune made frequent study trips. They took him to southern Germany and northern Italy (1841), to Berlin and Hamburg (1847), to Cologne and Frankfurt am Main (1848) and in 1857 to Switzerland .
He died on July 28, 1857 shortly after his return to Detmold as a result of a stroke.

- 1830 barracks in Leopoldstrasse (meanwhile demolished)
- 1830/31 Officer's house in the Rosental (today "Ferdinand-Brune-Haus"), in which he realized his own official residence
- 1831/32 Leopoldinum grammar school and director's house in Leopoldstrasse
- 1835 cast iron bridge at the New Palace
- 1836–1838 Pheasantry building in the Friedrichstaler facilities near Detmold
- 1841 Kahlenberg tower near Schieder
- 1847–1854 reconstruction of the New Palace (so-called Friedamadolfsburg) with the participation of the Berlin building officer Heinrich Strack
- 1850 Design of a street lamp for the residential city of Detmold
- 1851–1853 conversion of the Friedrichstaler grotto into a mausoleum
In addition, administrative and forest houses, beer cellars, distilleries, ice cellars, dairies, mills, brick kilns, but also roads, bridges and river regulations.
Publications
In addition to his work, Brune came to do private scientific studies on silver firs , highways and sea levels and to publish their results.
