Georg Hermann Ferdinand von Hamelberg (born August 3, 1798 in Minden , † March 1, 1870 in Bocholt ) was a German main administrative official in the Prussian province of Westphalia and a politician .

Life

Von Hamelberg was born as the son of the married couple Johann Ernst von Hamelberg and his wife Melosine Sophie von der Lüde and grew up on Haus Heidefeld in Spork ( Amt Liedern-Werth near Bocholt). After visiting the Celle Lyceum, he volunteered in the Corps of Count von Wallmoden in 1813 and was a lieutenant in the 7th Prussian Uhlan Regiment from 1821 to 1823 . He switched to Spanish military service and was dismissed as a colonel in 1834.

Heidefeld estate in Spork

From 1835 on he took care of the inherited estate "Haus Heidefeld" in Spork near Bocholt until he was elected the first candidate for the office of district administrator of the Borken district on February 28, 1848 with 6 out of 14 votes in protest of several district council members ; on June 8, 1848 he was appointed district administrator of the Borken district by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV . Von Hamelberg was married to Freiin Philippine de Cocq von Haeften. The son Friedrich Wilhelm emerged from the marriage.
