Hans Walter Ferdinand Hermann von Jutrzenka-Morgenstern (born on February 1, 1873 in Potsdam ; died on February 9, 1958 in Braunschweig ) was a Prussian chemist and founder of the Dr. von Morgenstern Schools , a training center for chemical laboratory technicians in Braunschweig.

Life

Ferdinand was a member of from Pomerania originating noble family of Morgenstern . His parents were Walter von Jutrzenka-Morgenstern (1842–1914), most recently cadastral controller and tax inspector in Prenzlau , and Elise Raschke (1847–1904). He attended the Realprogymnasium Rathenow , advanced to lieutenant in the Prussian army in infantry regiment No. 64 by 1903 and was ranked among the reserve officers for the years 1904 to 1907 .

He enrolled on October 31, 1903 at the University of Rostock for the winter semester in chemistry and studied there until November 25, 1905. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the solanine content at the Agricultural Research Institute in Rostock under Reinhold Heinrich (1845-1917) the table and fodder potatoes and the influence of soil culture on the formation of solanine in the potato plant , which was published in 1906 and which he dedicated to his father. Von Morgenstern moved to Braunschweig, where he took over a commercial laboratory and began to train laboratory technicians in chemistry courses. From these beginnings, a one-year apprenticeship was initially developed, which was expanded in the following years to a two-year apprenticeship with a state-certified final examination as a chemical engineer. This led to an apprenticeship as a chemical-technical assistant . In 1913 he founded the first Dr. von Morgenstern schools that have also trained pharmaceutical-technical assistants since the 1960s and biological-technical assistants and beauticians since the 1980s .

family

Von Morgenstern married the pharmacist's daughter Hedwig Konow (1886–1967) in Rostock in 1910 and had two daughters with her:

  • Ingeborg Ernst-von-Morgenstern (approx. 1911–2005), who worked as a commercial chemist, married Richard Ernst (doctor of mechanical engineering, cable car engineer and lexicographer , 1900–1992).
  • Jutta Beyer-von-Morgenstern (1914–2008), married in 1938 to Hanns Pook (hockey player from Braunschweig, † November 1949) and, after his death, since 1954 with Manfred Beyer (1924–2000). She had several sons:

The daughters Ingeborg and Jutta took over the management of the schools in 1958, which were later run by Jutta's children.
