Ferenc Cserháti

Ferenc Cserháti (also Franz Cserháti ; born February 12, 1947 in Turulung , Romania ) is Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest .

Life

Cserháti came from a Sathmar-Swabian family from Turulung. He was ordained a priest on April 18, 1971 in Alba Iulia, Romania, for the diocese of Satu Mare . He initially worked as a chaplain , but moved to Germany as a late repatriate . From 1979 to 1980 he studied in Frankfurt am Main ; In 1982, he was at the University of Innsbruck with a thesis on the necessity for salvation of the Church Dr. theol. PhD . He initially worked as a chaplain in Munich . From 1984 to 2001 he headed the Hungarian Catholic Mission with around 11,000 members in Munich. Since 2002 Cserháti has been the delegate for the Catholic pastoral care of the Hungarian language in all dioceses in Germany. In 2003 he was appointed monsignor .

On June 15, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Centuria and the Auxiliary Bishop of Esztergom-Budapest, headquartered in Budapest . He was ordained bishop by the Primate of Hungary, Cardinal Péter Erdő , on August 15, 2007 in the Esztergom Basilica; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Eger , Csaba Ternyák and the Bishop of Satu Mare, Jenő Schönberger .
