Csaba Ternyák (born December 4, 1953 in Fertőszentmiklós , Hungary ) is Archbishop of Eger .

Life

Csaba Ternyák studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the seminary of the Győr diocese and at the Péter Pázmány Catholic University in Budapest . He was then sent to Rome to continue his studies . Ternyák graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University with a degree in dogmatics . On June 21, 1979, he received the sacrament of ordination through the bishop of Győr, Kornél Pataky .

Ternyák became secretary to the Bishop of Győr . From 1988 to 1992 he was Rector of the Pontifical College Germanicum et Hungaricum in Rome. In addition, Csaba Ternyák was postulator of the beatification processes of Vilmos Apor and Ladislaus Batthyány-Strattmann . From 1992 to 1997 he was secretary of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference .

On December 24, 1992 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Eminentiana and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Esztergom . He was ordained bishop on January 6, 1993 by John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia Giovanni Battista Re , then official in the State Secretariat , and Justin Francis Rigali , then secretary of the Congregation for Bishops . Csaba Ternyák chose the motto Ipsi gloria in saecula! (“Glory to him forever!”), Which comes from Paul's letter to the Romans ( Rom 11.36  EU ).

On December 11, 1997, Pope John Paul II appointed him secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy and appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice . On March 15, 2007 Csaba Ternyák was from Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Eger ; the solemn enthronement and inauguration took place on June 9 of the same year.
