Fereydoon Batmanghelidj

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fereydoon Batmanghelidj (pronounced: Batman-gee-lidsch; * 1930 or 1931 in Iran ; † November 15, 2004 in the USA ) was an Iranian doctor and alternative medicine .

Life

His medical training completed Batmanghelidj at St Mary's Hospital of London University . He returned to Iran and became wealthy as an entrepreneur there. In 1979 he was arrested by the Iranian revolutionary government. According to his own admission, he discovered the "healing power of water" in prison. According to Batmanghelidj, water deficiency ( dehydration ) is said to have harmful effects on health beyond what is medically recognized and to be the cause of many diseases (e.g. cancer , strokes , depression , coronary heart disease , osteoporosis , gout , or obesity ). In 1982 Batmanghelidj emigrated from Iran to the USA. Here he gave lectures and wrote several books on the subject. Because of his generalizing theses on healing with water, Batmanghelidj is still highly controversial today.

Batmanghelidj is the father of four children, including Camila Batmanghelidj , whose Kids Company charity closed in 2015 over alleged embezzlement of £ 3 million in public funds and allegations of child abuse.

Critical addition

It was already known before Batmanghelidj that adults need around 2 to 3 liters of water a day. He has not provided any evidence or evidence for the (almost all) healing effects of water that he claims. His account of his detention experience is anecdotal.

Batmanghelidj did not publish any results of his research after emigrating to the USA. The only exception to this is an article in a specialist journal for gastrointestinal medicine (1983).

Although he was registered as a naturopath in the USA, he was verifiably neither active as such nor as a doctor until his death in 2004.
