Fernand Boden

Fernand Boden (born September 13, 1943 in Echternach ) is a Luxembourg politician of the Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (CSV), who was minister in various departments for 30 years.

Life

Fernand Boden attended grammar school in Echternach and then began a teaching degree at the University of Liège . He then taught mathematics and physics at the grammar school in Echternach between 1966 and 1978. In addition, from 1970 to 1976 he was First Alderman of Echterbruch. On February 14, 1978 he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies (Chamber) for the Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (CSV ) and represented the constituency of the East until May 1979.

In the European elections on June 10, 1979 , he was elected a member of the European Parliament and in the first legislative term only belonged to the European Parliament for one day from July 17 to 18, 1979. He resigned his mandate after he had been appointed Minister for National Education and Tourism (Ministre de l'Éducation nationale, Ministre du Tourisme) in the fifth government of Werner on July 16, 1979 . Between December 3 and 21, 1982, he was also acting minister for agriculture, viticulture, water and forestry (Ministre de l'Agriculture, de la Viticulture et des Eaux et Forêts) . In the subsequent first government of Santer , he served from July 20, 1984 to July 14, 1989 Minister for National Education and Youth and Minister of Tourism (Ministre de l'Éducation nationale et de la Jeunesse, Ministre du Tourisme) .

Fernand Boden was then between 14 July 1989 and the Minister for Families and Solidarity as well as Minister for Middle Classes and Tourism (Ministre de la Famille et de la Solidarité, Ministre des Classes moyennes et du Tourisme) . In the subsequently formed third government Santer he held on 13 July 1994 to 20 January 1995 continues as Minister of Family and Solidarity and Minister for SMEs and tourism, and additionally as Minister for the Civil Service (Ministre de la Famille et de la Solidarité, Ministre des Classes moyennes et du Tourisme, Ministre de la Fonction publique) . In the first Juncker government, between January 20 and 26, 1995, he continued to hold the posts of Minister for Family and Solidarity, Minister for Small Business and Tourism and Minister for the Public Service. In the course of a government reshuffle, on May 26, 1995, he took over the posts of Minister for Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, Minister for Small Business and Tourism and Minister for Housing (Ministre de l'Agriculture, de la Viticulture et du Développement rural, Ministre des Classes moyennes et du Tourisme, Ministre du Logement) and held them until August 7, 1999.

From August 7, 1999 to July 31, 2004, he continued to function as Minister for Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Tourism, and Housing Minister in the subsequent Juncker government . Most recently, he continued to hold the posts of Minister for Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, Minister for Small Business and Tourism and Housing Minister in the Juncker third government between July 31, 2004 and July 23, 2009. After leaving the government, he was re-elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies in the chamber election on June 7, 2009 , in which he again represented the constituency of the East from July 28, 2009 to October 6, 2013. During his parliamentary membership, he was a deputy member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from September 28, 2009 and January 26, 2014 .

He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante Dom Henrique for his services on November 12, 1988 and again on May 6, 2005 .
