Fernando Bellver

Fernando Bellver (born October 26, 1954 in Madrid ) is a Spanish painter and representative of figurative art in Spain.

The son of Felix Bellver Cardin and Maria Luisa Chango Leniz, he is the youngest of four children. Nephew of the sculptor Ricardo Bellver (author of the sculpture "Angel Caido") and grandson of the sculptor Francisco Bellver y Collazos, he comes from a family that has been sculptors and wood carvers since the 13th century and from the Catalan village of Bellver in various stages to Madrid comes to head the Academy of San Fernando after Goya's death .

In 1967, at the age of 13, he went to the "Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Madrid" (School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid), where he learned drawing and sculpture for 5 years. In 1972 he had his first exhibition in the Antonio Machado bookstore in Madrid. He works as a draftsman for the publishers Bruño, Mondadori, Santillana and Anaya and designs movie posters and albums.

In 1975 he married Angeles Perez Gomez.

In 1976 he learned the technique of etching in Dimitri Papageorgio's workshop, and he also got to know Gonzalo Cabo de la Sierra, director of the Esti_Arte gallery (Madrid). With his cooperation, various solo exhibitions arise and enable constant presence at the art fair "Arco" from 1982 onwards.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry pays him a scholarship to work with Anne Breivik in the "Nord Atelier". In 1982 he was appointed "Sustituto" (deputy) of the Academy de España in Rome.

In 1982 he moved to the Fefa Seiquer Gallery (Madrid), and in 1988 to the well-known Juana Mordó Gallery (Madrid), which held various exhibitions with him and enabled him to participate in various national and international trade fairs.

He then worked with the Max Estrella de Madrid gallery.

Together with his wife Angeles Perez, Fructuoso Moreno and Arturo G.Armada, he founded his own printer workshop "Mayor 28" in 1982, the same address as his name.

Well-known artists such as Rafael Canogar , Francisco Farreras, Joan Miró , Manuel Rivera , Lucio Muñoz , Amadeo Gabino , José Guerrero , Martín Chirino, Jaume Plensa , Andrés Nagel, Dis Berlin, Albert Rafols-Casamada, Joan Hernández Pijuan , Guillermo Perez Villalta worked here , Juan Genovés , Pelayo Ortega, Hernán Cortés Moreno, Luis Eduardo Aute , Eduardo Arroyo . Furthermore, exhibitions of these are held here, as well as by the photographers Isabel Muñoz, Chema Madoz and Rafael Lobato.

Mayor 28 also sets up various printer shops in different parts of the world, such as Los Llanos and the city of San Fernando in Venezuela .

In 1985 he was invited to the Tokyo Art Festival and became a professor at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1988 he started working with the "Sala Conca" gallery in Tenerife.

In 1991 he was commissioned by the Egyptian government to create a suite for Expo 92 . For the Expo 2000 in Hanover he created the installation "ZU".

With the death of Arturo G. Navy in 2010, he closes the printer's workshop and, in collaboration with the "ArtSur" foundation, establishes the printer's workshop "La Sirena" in the city of Granada ( Nicaragua ).

He made large sculptures for the cities of "Leganés" and "Los Llanos".
