Fernando Lorenzana

Alvaro Fernando Lorenzana (born April 6, 1808 in Mexico City , † 1892 in Rome) was a Latin American diplomat in Rome .

Life

Fernando Lorenzana had an older sister and three older brothers. In 1832 he traveled to Bogotá , was appointed envoy of the Republic of New Granada by Francisco de Paula Santander and ennobled as Marqués de Belmonte by the Bolivian National Congress. He traveled via Liverpool , where he was temporarily detained in London and Paris.

On February 3, 1838, he married the Condesa Catalina Negrone. For her epitaph in the church of Santi Bartolomeo e Alessandro dei Bergamaschi at Piazza Colonna made Pietro Tenerani a marble medallion. His second wife was Baronesa Luisa Binder-Kriegelstein, her epitaph is in the Santa Maria in Campitelli . In the house chapel of the Palacio Santacroce-Pasolini , Piazza Benedetto Cairoli, 3, he married the Princesa Juliana Santacroce, who survived him. He represented the governments of Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, the Republic of New Granada , Mexico, El Salvador and Venezuela to the Papal States and afterBattle of Sedan near the Holy See . From 1837 to 1840 he was chargé d'affaires of the government of the Republic of New Granada under Gregory XVI. From 1840 to 1853 he was Chargé d'affaires of the government of Ecuador to Gregory XVI. As a representative of Ecuador received from Pius IX. a bull which confirmed the revaluation of January 13th 1848 of the Archdiocese of Quito .

From 1850 to 1892 he represented the government of Juan Rafael Mora Porras , Costa Rica to Pius IX. and signed a Concordat on October 7, 1852 with Giacomo Antonelli . The same couple signed a Concordat for El Salvador on April 22, 1862. On June 23, 1851 he was appointed Chargé d'affaires of José Rafael Carrera Turcios and submitted his letter of accreditation to Pius IX on December 1, 1851 . in front. From 1861 he represented the government of Costa Rica with Victor Emmanuel II in Turin . He represented governments of nine states and was called Ministro delle quattro potenze because he concluded four concordats. In 1960 the Colombian ambassador in Rome dedicated a notice board to him on his house in the Plaza Mattei by the turtle fountain
