Localization of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany

The television station Monschau or telecommunications tower Lammersdorf is located near Lammersdorf in the municipality of Simmerath in the Aachen region . It is a telecommunications tower in steel framework construction . Before the conversion to DVB-T , the North West Eifel, partly the city of Aachen and the neighboring German-speaking Community of Belgium were supplied with ZDF and WDR television from here . Despite the low construction height, it had due to its location on a mountain with a height of 648  m above sea level. NN a large range. With the introduction of DVB-T in the Aachen region on November 20, 2007, the television stations were taken out of service. Four days later, the top of the tower with the transmitting antenna was dismantled. The transmission of DVB-T / T2 programs is not planned in this part of the Eifel. The tower now only carries cell phone antennas and VHF antennas for broadcasting the local radio station Antenne AC .

On September 6, 2013 the transmission tower was raised. The exact reason for the increase and the current total amount are not known. Until then, the total height was 66 meters.

The operator and owner of the system is Deutsche Funkturm (DFMG), a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom based in Münster .
