The Galați TV tower is a 150 meter high television and radio tower in the Romanian city of Galați . The tower, which was completed in 1978 not far from the banks of the Danube , has a three-storey, cylindrical tower cage at a height of 86 meters with a revolving restaurant ( Perla Dunării , in German: Donauperle) for 220 seats. The slim tower shaft tapers towards the top. Another restaurant is located in the tower base on the ground floor.
In addition to broadcasting radio and television programs, the television tower also serves as a weather station . There are numerous parabolic and directional radio antennas on the tower cage roof and on the steel antenna support . The Galați television tower is the highest publicly accessible television tower in the country and the only one with a revolving restaurant.
