The Alsterdorf fire station is an office building of the Hamburg fire brigade . It is located at the confluence of the Maienweg in the Alsterkrugchaussee in the Alsterdorf district .

history

The decision to build a fire station in Alsterdorf was passed on November 28, 1912 by the building deputation . The President of the Deputation for fire extinguishing had previously asked for a guard to be built near the Alster villages. Fritz Schumacher took over the planning for the building, the construction costs of which were estimated at 171,600 marks . Construction began on March 11, 1913. After completion in September 1914, the station, equipped with two motor-fired vehicles, was put into service on November 14, 1914.

The building was damaged during the air raids on Hamburg in 1943 ; however could be repaired. After the end of the Second World War , British firefighters moved into the fire station for three years, only to hand them over to the Hamburg fire brigade on September 18, 1948.

From September 29, 1960, the guard was expanded and rebuilt; From the beginning of 1963 a shelter was built. The construction work was completed on October 22, 1963. From 1997 to the end of 1999 the building was expanded and rebuilt in three successive phases. The premises were inaugurated on July 17, 2000.

The fire station is now a listed building.
