Branch church Dellach in the Gailtal
The branch church Dellach in Gailtal is dedicated to St. Nicholas and belongs to the parish of St. Daniel . A report by Paolo Santonino about an altar consecration in 1485 is the first documentary mention of a church in Dellach .
Building description
The church is a simple, medium-sized building from the second half of the 17th century, but with an older core. On the north side there is a sacristy and the tower. The tower with wall slots and arched sound windows is crowned by a pointed helmet. You enter the church through an early baroque west portal with a straight lintel .
A shallow barrel with stab caps rises above the four-bay nave and the one-bay choir with a three- eighth end . The vault is structured by belt arches over pilasters . A stucco angel's head is attached to the parapet of the walled west gallery, which gently swings forward in the middle. The organ was built by Alois Fuetsch around 1890 .
Facility
The high altar, made up of various parts from the 17th and 18th centuries, originally stood in the Kornat parish church and was erected in Dellach in 1877. The middle picture shows St. Nicholas, the upper picture the Mother of God. On the side of the main floor are the statues of Saints Barbara and Catherine and in the top there are angel figures from the 17th century.
The left side altar from the third quarter of the 18th century bears a Pietà , flanked by Saints Barbara and Magdalena . The right side altar from the beginning of the 18th century shows Franz Xaver in the middle picture and Maria Immaculata in the top picture . To the side are the statues of St. Ulrich and New Year's Eve . The console figures of a Mother of God and Saints Florian and Nicholas complete the furnishings of the church.
