Filial church Passriach
The Passriach branch church stands on a hill west of Passriach / Pazrije in the municipality of Hermagor . The church consecrated to St. Valentine belongs to the Mellweg parish .
Building description
The late Gothic church consists of a three-bay nave and a single-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The wooden roof turret is crowned by a pointed pyramid helmet. The baroque St. Christopher fresco on the south wall was created in 1716. In the large, open, aisle-wide pillar porch, there is a stone sacrificial table. The west portal with a straight lintel has a traditionally carved wooden door from 1668.
In the nave and the choir, a ribbed vault rests on consoles. The wide and low triumphal arch is designed as a round arch. The wooden west gallery dates from the baroque era.
Facility
The altars were built around 1670/1680. The high altar consists of a two-storey column aedicula over a small base, an aedicula with two niches as a top and a cherub head and volutes as a crown. The base, gable and the side ears are decorated with cartilage . The central figure of St. Valentine from 1782 is flanked by a St. Bishop and St. Anthony the Hermit . The statues of John the Evangelist and St. Stephen are located in the double niche .
The left side altar consists of an aedicula over a small base, a blown volute gable with a small aedicula as an attachment and a cherub head and volutes as a crown. The twisted column shafts are decorated with vine tendrils and fruit pendants, the base, the entablature and the side ears with cartilage. The middle picture shows a holy bishop, the top picture shows the risen Christ .
The right side altar resembles the left in structure and decoration. The altar panel shows the appearance of Our Lady before Saint Anthony of Padua , the upper image shows a female saint.
