The Church of St. Leonhard in der Eben is a Roman Catholic branch and pilgrimage church . It stands in the municipality Eibiswald belonging cadastral Sankt Lorenzen in Styria . It is consecrated to St. Leonhard .

history

The first written mention of the church comes from the year 1545. Until 1829 it was subordinate to the parish Mahrenberg, today's Radlje ob Dravi . It was restored in 1845 and 1911.

The church is essentially Romanesque and was expanded in the late Gothic . The roof turret is located above the nave and carries a bell that was cast in the 16th century.

West gallery and coffered ceiling, first half of the 16th century

The rectangular nave is spanned by a painted wooden coffered ceiling with nine by eight fields from the second quarter of the 16th century. It is painted with stylized flower and plant motifs. The constricted, round-arched front arch is decorated with pearl rod fields. The retracted, late Gothic choir has a five-eighth end and is vaulted by a ribbed vault seated on three-quarter rounds. The 17th century sacristy is attached to the north of the choir. In the western part of the nave there is a wooden gallery with late Gothic stencil paintings from the beginning of the 16th century. The Gothic tracery windows are simply designed. There is a late Romanesque window on the south wall of the nave .

The high altar dates from the first half of the 17th century and is partially fitted with fittings . The altarpiece was painted around 1700 and the tabernacle dates from the first half of the 18th century. The side altars, decorated with cartilage , date from around 1670/80. The positive organ with double doors was built in the middle of the 18th century. On the north wall of the nave there is a fresco of St. Christopher with a frame decorated with tendrils from 1500. There is also a carved figure of St. Leonhard from the third quarter of the 15th century in the church .
