Fillmore is a place and county seat of Millard County in the state of Utah . At the United States Census 2010 , Fillmore had 2,435 people.

history

Fillmore was founded in 1851 by Brigham Young as the new capital of the state of Deseret and named after the 13th President of the United States, Millard Fillmore . Fillmore was the capital of the Utah Territory until 1858 , after which the seat of government was moved back to Salt Lake City . Only one side wing of the generously planned government building ( Territorial Statehouse ) was completed. This still exists today and houses a museum.
