Final Breath ( engl. "Last breath") is a Thrash - / death metal band from Lohr am Main in Franconia .

history

Final Breath was founded in 1993 by singer Michael Imhof, the two guitarists Thomas Böttcher and Steffen Diel as well as bass player Thomas Wissel and drummer Heiko Krumpholz. Two years later the first demo Soulchange was released and in 1997 the self-financed EP End of It All with Markus Wertmann as the second guitarist for Diel. The debut album Flash-Burnt Crucifixes was also released as an in-house production, for which the band was able to win the experienced producer Andy Classen . After the debut (with Jörg Breitenbach for Thomas Böttcher) was initially marketed in-house, the independent label Gutter Records signed the band and reissued the debut.

Shortly afterwards, the band and label split up in an argument. So the recordings for the successor Mind Explosion started again at the expense of the band. In the studio, again with Andy Classen as producer, the band separated from Michael Imhof and Markus Werthmann. However, a replacement was found in the form of singers Jürgen Aumann (ex- Soul Demise , ex- Violation ) and Werner Müller. Nuclear Blast finally signed the band. This contract was also limited to one album.

The third album Let Me Be Your Tank was pre-financed by the band, whose line-up did not remain stable. Thomas Wissel got out so that Müller also had to take over the bass. The finished album was released by Remnedy Records . With a new line-up (Dominik Merz as bassist, Dennis Schneider for Müller), the band played a tour with Illdisposed and Ancient . In 2005 the band played at Summer Breeze . After that it became quiet about the guys, who returned for a few shows in 2009 and worked on material for a new album. At the beginning of 2018 singer Jürgen Aumann got out. After a brief search, a replacement was found in Patrick Gajda, the singer of the Flesh Trading Company .

The members of the band are also the organizers of the Up-from-the-Ground Festival , which was held annually on the Mainwiesen in Gemünden and was the largest extreme metal festival in Franconia at the time.

Since 2015 the band has been playing at smaller concerts and festivals again. A new album will be available from October 19, 2018. The first single Agonized, Zombified, Necrotized was released on September 27, 2018.

style

The band combines classic Thrash Metal à la Exodus and Testament with Swedish Death Metal from the brand Dismember or At the Gates to create aggressive metal, comparable to bands of the same genre as their compatriots Dew-Scented .
