The pilot Glen "Lucky" Singer and his family, as well as some important politicians, take part in the inauguration of the new computer-controlled diesel - electric high-tech train " Grand Royale ". Shortly after departure, the train driver had a mishap: he accidentally emptied a glass of water into the control unit of the locomotive. As a result, the entire computer system fails and the train can no longer be controlled. While trying to check the blown main fuses, the driver falls off the train and dies. Lucky tries to stop the train by switching off the fuel supply, but this does not succeed quickly enough due to the high mass, and the attempt to uncouple the wagons from the locomotive also fails. Lucky also falls off the train, but takes a shortcut and jumps up again in front of a tunnel entrance. Lucky receives explosives from a helicopter , with which he can finally separate the wagons from the locomotive and bring them to a stop. So all passengers are saved. Lucky himself got on the locomotive, which threatens to derail at a hospital. By turning the fuel supply on again, he manages to accelerate it in order to derail it before the hospital. After he escaped from the roof of the locomotive in a helicopter, the locomotive derailed in time to avoid falling on the hospital, and it also exploded when falling into a ravine.
